SUSFUR Local Training in Montenegro
As part of the SUSFUR project, a local training was organized in Montenegro to strengthen participants’ knowledge and understanding of circular economy principles, sustainable business development, and innovative approaches in the wood and manufacturing sectors. Through a combination of study visits, expert-led sessions, and interactive discussions, participants had the opportunity to connect theoretical concepts with practical examples and explore sustainable solutions that can be applied in their local communities and organizations.
An important component of the training consisted of study visits to local companies, allowing participants to gain first-hand insights into different production processes and business models. During visits to Becom Co, Eko Vladoš in Kolašin, and Fabrika Kurti in Ulcinj, participants learned about company operations, resource management practices, production organization, and the role of innovation and local resources in supporting sustainable business development. These visits provided valuable opportunities to observe manufacturing activities in practice and engage directly with company representatives.
The theoretical part of the training focused on circular economy, eco-design, and innovative approaches to sustainability. Through expert lectures, interactive workshops, and group exercises, participants explored topics such as resource efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable materials, and circular business models. Building on the knowledge gained during the study visits, participants reflected on real-life examples, identified sustainability challenges and opportunities, and worked together to develop practical ideas and solutions.
Throughout the training, active discussions and exchanges of experiences encouraged participants to think critically about sustainable and circular approaches and consider how the knowledge and good practices observed during the programme could contribute to the development of their own communities, organizations, and businesses.
The training highlighted the importance of linking theory with practice and demonstrated how collaboration, knowledge sharing, and exposure to real-world examples can inspire innovative and sustainable solutions for a more circular future.
